This engine and trans came out of a car that has been in storage fo more than 20 years.. it was aquired at a estate sale. It had 50k miles on the speedometer.This engine is completely stock everything is original. It also runs perfectly with not even the slightest amount of blowby.. I did need to rebuild the carb as the existing gas had turned to paste. It does need a water pump as the stock one is frozen. I have it on a run stand for that purpose. Ofcourse before I ran it I changed the oil. For use in a streetrod or ratrod all this great Caddy engine needs is maybe aftermarket carbs , an intake manifold and some fresh Caddy blue paint... This excellant engine was removed from a 49 Caddy that has been in storage for over 20 years. the old couple that owned it were driving down the hiway when the rear tire blew and tore off the rear fender. It scared them so much that they had the tow truck guy unload it into their garage until it was in their estate sale. I purchased the car for the front end group and saved the engine and trans for a future project. I have since realized I already have more projects than I can finish in my lifetime. This engine is in perfect running condition. I did need to rebuild the carb as the gas in it had turned to paste. The water pump is frozen needing a rebuild and ofcourse I changed the oil. I was really surprised when running it there is exactly no blowby or exhaust smoke. all thats needed for use in a streetrod or ratrod is a multi carb setup and a fresh Caddy blue paint job. This is really a sweet engine.... The engine is ready for inspection and is able to be started and run..
